become a limited partner of lil venture fund

Apply Now

A unique way to stand out.

  • This will be an additional extracurricular activity on your candidacy profile to demonstrate your non-conventional skills outside of the classroom.
  • This is  the only venture capital fund in existence dedicated to funding high-school level student projects/organizations/ventures, which makes this an extremely unique opportunity unlikely to be replicated on any other college application.
  • For students interested in the fields of finance, economics, business or related domains, this would be an excellent way to demonstrate interest and ability.
  • You will work directly with other students who have undertaken high-quality student leadership and innovation projects, offering the unique opportunity to learn, be inspired and even potentially join in should some of these projects be recruiting new members.
  • The time and energy required for this activity is not extensive and this commitment could wrap up within a few short months if the student so wishes.
  • This work can be done entirely online from the comfort of your home and laptop.

We are currently recruiting students to join the management of LIL Venture Fund in the role of Limited Partner, who will work under the supervision of the Director of Student Innovation who will also act as General Partner of LVF.

  • Duties
    • Assist in sourcing, reviewing and selecting projects/organizations/ventures for award
    • Vote on projects/organizations/ventures to be awarded
    • Publicize availability of funding provided by LVF via personal network
    • Assist on ongoing monitoring of projects/organizations/ventures receiving funding (e.g. ensure that monthly reports are submitted punctually, act as point of contact between awardees and LVF, assist in publicizing open recruitment opportunities among awardee projects/organizations/ventures)
    • Assist in legacy planning involved in transfer of control of project/organization/venture
  • Time commitment
    • 1-2 hours weekly on average
    • Time commitment is likely to be on the lower end at the beginning of each funding cycle and higher toward the end of each cycle

Each tenure as Limited Partner lasts six months, i.e. you can apply to work for the LVF every six months to participate in the next round of the selection and award process. You can choose to pursue multiple tenures as LVF’s Limited Partner, subject to agreement by the General Partner of LVF.

Other than all the experiences and development opportunities outlined above, you will obtain a Letter of Recommendation from the General Partner of the LVF attesting to your role and your contribution. You will also receive a certificate honoring your work.

Yes, of course!

Final execution decision regarding award of funding rests with the General Partner of LVF. As a Limited Partner, you are welcome to advocate for yourself and your projects, but you will not be able to make the decision to award yourself funding.

Hence, all students are welcome to apply for funding, regardless of whether they are a member of the LVF management. Each project/organization/venture will be evaluated on its own merit.
