The IdeAction Global Pitch Competition is biannual, which means high school entrepreneurs have two excellent opportunities a year to improve their skillsets and possibly win funding for their ventures.
Twice a year, our IdeAction Global Pitch Competition gives young entrepreneurs from around the world the chance to win funding for their businesses, organizations, and other signature projects. Modeled after real-world events wherein adult entrepreneurs compete for venture capital backing or other investment opportunities, IdeAction is made possible by the LIL Venture Fund. This funding source is the only one in the world solely dedicated to supporting and funding projects run by high school students.
This opportunity for healthy competition benefits all students who enter, whether they win the venture funding or not. As with every element of the LIL ecosystem, the IdeAction Global Pitch Competition is, first and foremost, a hands-on educational resource designed to help young leaders develop the skills necessary to become tomorrow’s innovators. And one of the most important skills a business leader can hone is the ability to speak clearly and confidently about the products or services they’re offering.
Crafting an effective business pitch and delivering it masterfully can lead to a lucrative investment offer, or a new lifetime customer, for any entrepreneur. IdeAction, which encourages high school leaders to sharpen their techniques and ambitiously pursue their goals, is the best way to prepare young people for the often intense process of seeking funding in the real world. Also, it doesn’t hurt that competition–the striving to earn something everyone wants, but not everyone can have–encourages self development and information retention.
There’s a reason team or group activities are often integral aspects of childhood and adolescence. Studies have shown that in classroom settings, the implementation of competition-based games promotes students’ desires to improve their understanding of course material and expend more effort, which enhances course performance overall. Healthy competition benefits everyone. Whether a student is competing to improve their competency or simply to win and best their rivals, the results are the same: they either learn from their mistakes and walk away more knowledgeable, or they achieve their goals and emerge victorious.
The IdeAction Global Pitch Competition is biannual, which means high school entrepreneurs have two excellent opportunities a year to improve their skillsets and possibly win funding for their ventures. We announce the winners, and their awarded amounts, at the subsequent Student Research and Innovation Showcases that occur after the close of each funding cycle. LIL encourages students of all skill levels to sign up and join in on the fun in the spring and fall. Our venture fund exists to support hardworking young leaders with unique solutions to real world problems, and we’re always eager to help pave the way to their success.
